Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it and the rights you have.
We collect as little as we can. This policy explains how we handle your personal data under the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations.
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is Uncover Britain Road Trips, trading as VAMOSVIVER, company number 10788492, 51 Kipling Road, Hawk Rise, Ledbury, Herefordshire, HR8 2GU, England. For anything to do with your data, write to [email protected].
What we collect and why
| When | Data | Why | Lawful basis | How long |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| You use the contact form | Name, email, phone if given, subject, topic, message | To answer you | Legitimate interests (replying to people who write to us) | Up to 24 months after our last exchange |
| You post a comment | Name, email, comment, story | To moderate and publish it. Your email is never published | Consent, which you give with the tick box | Published comments stay while the story is live. Declined ones are deleted within 90 days |
| You subscribe | Email address, date | To send the newsletter and the checklist | Consent | Until you unsubscribe. We then keep only what is needed to respect that choice |
| Any form is sent | A one-way scrambled code made from your IP address, and the time | To stop spam and abuse | Legitimate interests (keeping the site secure) | Kept with the record above |
| You visit any page | Standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and pages requested | To run and secure the site | Legitimate interests | Held by our host for a short period, normally no more than 30 days |
You do not have to give us any of this data, but we cannot reply, publish a comment or send the newsletter without it. Please do not include sensitive information in your messages.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal data or share it for marketing by others.
- We do not use advertising trackers or social network plug-ins.
- Our fonts and images are served from our own website, so loading a page does not send your data to font or image providers.
- We do not make automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
Who may see your data
Only the people who need it to run the blog, and companies that act for us under contract, such as our web host and email provider. We may also share data with professional advisers, or where the law requires it. If a provider handles data outside the UK, we make sure that an approved safeguard is in place, such as a UK adequacy decision or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement.
How we protect it
Form data is sent over an encrypted connection, checked on our server and stored in a protected area of the site that cannot be opened or downloaded from a browser. Access is limited to the people who run the blog. No online system is completely secure, so if a breach occurs we will follow our legal duties, including telling you and the regulator where required.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of your data;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data deleted in certain circumstances;
- restrict or object to how we use it, including any use based on legitimate interests;
- receive data you gave us in a portable format, where this applies;
- withdraw consent at any time, which does not affect anything done before you withdrew it.
To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. It is free, and we normally answer within one month.
Complaints
Please come to us first so that we can try to put things right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, SK9 5AF, telephone 0303 123 1113, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Children
This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you think that a child has sent us their details, please tell us and we will delete them.
Cookies
See our Cookie Policy for details of the cookies and browser storage we use and how to control them.

If we change how we use your data we will update this page, and where appropriate let you know.
